Shredded 54

description

Paper collage on paper, H12" x W12" Shredded: Collected with the patience of a forensic scientist, paper stripes emerge from my discarded and shredded documents, notes and paper artworks. I redistribute fragments of wasted content on a rigorous grid. It’s a laborious process, of many levels of paper selection, of cutting, and of looping the paper strips individually before constructing a collage. The “Shredded Series" are not mere statements about recycling. I grounded this body of work in the principle that the resilience of the human mind seems to always patch, to rebuild, to dig out meaning and shapes out of entropy. The intense meticulousness of the process coerces the eye to search for meaning and worth.
