description
Networks of utility pipelines and conduit run like veins through the contemporary world. Our work reflects on the importance infrastructure plays in connecting communities to necessary resources. Yet humanity’s dependency on this infrastructure often comes with an environmental price and can cause conflict between communities. Incorporating the materials and processes of industry, the artwork is created with an end product appearing etherial and other-worldly. The work functions as a journey into the strange and beautiful underworld of our contemporary world, or as shiny remnants of industry that may be defunct or flawed but revered.
This newest piece “Obstruction Series” specifically refers to the broken system of pipes that prevent flooding, broken by humans, our waste and plastic that clog the arteries of the infrastructure we rely on.
