Evolution of Earth
Exploring the unknown world of outer space has captivated me from an early age. Although I’ve matured into adulthood my fascination with space never ceased to exist. I wanted to compile an art series full of nostalgia from my childhood that focused on the evolution of the planets and their social connection to civilizations. The Life series documents the evolution of the planets using iconographic imagery representative of historical Gods. Using obsolete iPads as a substrate, paper collage, found objects, and acrylic paint narratives of the planets are created which document moments frozen in time. The first painting in the series, Evolution of Earth narrates multiple evolutions of Earth from the Cambrian period to the phanerozoic period. Showing the various changes of Earth along with the distorted clock conveys change is inevitable as a result of the universal law of rhythm. According to the Kybalion, Everything flows, out and in; everything has its tides; all things rise and fall; the pendulum swing manifests in everything; the measure of the swing to the right is the measure of the swing to the left; rhythm compensates.”.The iPads stand as a reminder that eventually all iPads of the future will be replaced as many paper sources have when they become obsolete. Everything in life is created, evolves, and ceases to exist in the end. The natural cycle of life stands as a reminder to journey through life living it to the fullest because nothing stays the same.
