AquaVerse Origami Sculpture
Approx. 10 in. x 22 in. x 9 in., Silver leaf, gouache, & acrylic on paper over yupo & dibond w/ painted figurines & mirror. 2022. Private Collection (Shelter Island, NY) Created for LongHouse Reserve 2022 Gala Exhibit. AquaVerse Origami Sculpture meticulously folds abstracted aquatic and cosmic vignettes into a dynamic sculptural form. Exhibited on a mirrored plint, the collage-like aesthetic reflects society's fragmented relationship with our natural environment. Generating kaleidoscopic perspectives that challenge perception, the reconfigured fragments seek to restore harmony between Nature and Culture. While executed as a self-contained sculpture, small figurines simultaneously indicate the artist's ultimate vision to transform these works into large-scale public sculptures and pavilions.
