Biography

My landscape paintings and wall sculptures deconstruct perceptions of nature as an idealized place that is separate from society. The paintings and sculptures are inspired by environmental activism, taxidermy, scientific models, and spirituality. The work combines natural and human-made environments by collaging paper and common industrial materials into representations of animals, plants, and landscapes. in winter 2021-2022 Katrina exhibited a site-specific installation at Interchurch Center Galleries in Manhattan, NY. She participated in NYC Audubon's studio residency on Governor's Island in 2021. Solo exhibitions include Tutu Gallery in Brooklyn, NY, and the Wild Bird Fund window gallery in Manhattan, NY, which is connected to a wildlife rescue center. Katrina has exhibited extensively in the NY area and beyond.
