Biography
Hara Woltz is an artist and scientist who addresses current states of ecological systems through a variety of visual media. Her projects explore the relationships between humans, environments, and other living organisms. Much of her work investigates threats to wild nature that disrupt the patterns necessary for biodiversity and ecological integrity to persist, such as habitat fragmentation, species exploitation, and climate change. Immersive research informs her art, and Hara has collaborated on numerous global ecological projects, including habitat restoration for native species in New Zealand, giant tortoise and Waved Albatross assessment in Galapagos, Ecuador, and biocultural resilience in Solomon Islands, Melanesia. Her creations reside in numerous private and corporate collections, and she has exhibited in spaces ranging from Sotheby’s to Storm King Art Center.
